Who are EMSS?
Leicestershire County Council and Nottingham City Council formed a partnership in 2010 to share transactional HR, Payroll and Finance services. The partnership, called East Midlands Shared Services (EMSS) also operates as a commercial transactional service provider to other non-profit organisations. Nottingham City and Leicestershire County Councils are referred to as the ‘Partners’.

What information do you collect from me?
We collect all data pertinent to your application. We will retain all communications sent or received by you in order to progress your application or produce statistical reports.
We automatically collect statistical data about usage patterns on our website. This information does not relate to you as an individual and is collected to provide us with an understanding of the areas of interest on our site.

How do you use the information collected?
The partners are the owners of the information collected on this site. We will not sell, share or rent any part of your information collected on the website to third parties in any way, unless stated on the web page at the point of collecting information from you, or as required by law.
All personal information collected on the website will be used for the purpose of delivering the service for which the information was supplied. In addition, the information may be used to make you aware of new or improved services available from us, unless you decline that usage when asked.

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are sent to your browser from the website that you visit. A cookie will typically contain the name of the domain from which the cookie has come, the “lifetime” of the cookie, and a value, usually a randomly generated unique number. Cookies can help a website to arrange content to match your preferred interests more quickly. Most websites use cookies.

How do you use cookies on this site?
A session cookie is a piece of text that is stored temporarily in your computer’s memory (RAM). It is deleted when you close your internet browser. Cookies cannot be used by themselves to identify you. A cookie cannot read data off your hard disk, read cookie files created by other websites or damage your system.
All cookies used on the EMSS Jobsite are sessional based on the .NET infrastructure. Separate cookies are generated for each session and the Jobsite does not record them. The only thing each cookie tracks is the session you are on, i.e. are you logged in as and who you have logged in as.
The cookie used tracks you when you are on the same session and when you request the next page. Once you log out the session ends and the cookie is not used again.
The cookies are not tailed by unique user and we do not use this information to track activity. A new cookie is uploaded for each session at sign in and is not stored on a PC.

How is my information kept secure?
Access to all of our users’ information is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally-identifiable information. The servers that we store personally-identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.

If you are concerned about the potential use of information gathered from your computer by cookies, you can set your browser to prompt you before it accepts a cookie. Most Internet browsers have settings that let you identify and/or reject cookies.


About my application

How do I register?
Simply click ‘Login/Register’ and the ‘I don’t have an account’ option to complete your details and choose a password. Once registered, you will be sent a confirmation email to access your account.
You must register to apply for vacancies online – to make this easier, once you have completed your first application, your details (education and employment history) will automatically carry through to subsequent applications.

How do I apply?
If there is the option to apply online, click on ‘Apply’ to open the application form for the post you are interested in. If you have registered already, log in to your account first to pre-populate some of your application details into the form. If you have not already registered, you will be prompted to do so before you can apply. Once you have completed your application, read and agreed to the declaration, click ‘Submit’. Some vacancies do not have the option to apply on the Jobsite and will explain how to apply either by visiting an external webpage or requesting a paper application form.
You will receive an email confirming your submission and will be able to see your application history and progress when logged into your account.

Can I apply offline?
If for any reason you are unable to register for a Jobsite account or to apply online, you can request a paper copy of the application form by contacting the ESC Service Desk on the contact details here. Some vacancies do not have the option to apply on the Jobsite and will explain how to apply either by visiting an external webpage or requesting a paper application form.

When will I get a response?
If you have registered, you will be able to track your application progress for each vacancy you apply for. Once applications have been processed, you will receive an email to say whether or not you are moving to the next recruitment stage and what you need to do. If your application progress in your Jobsite account has not changed or you have not been contacted within 15 days of the closing date, please contact the ESC Service Desk on the contact details here.

Can I withdraw my application?
Yes. If for any reason you no longer wish to be considered for a vacancy you have applied for, you can retract that application by logging in, clicking ‘My Account’, ‘Application History’ and ‘Withdraw’. If you have applied offline, you can withdraw your application by contacting the ESC Service Desk on the contact details here.

Why do you ask Monitoring Questions?
Workforce monitoring is a common and necessary practice that enables organisations to ensure fair treatment and opportunities to all candidates, regardless of background or personal circumstances. All monitoring data that you provide will be held confidentially and is not accessible in conjunction with your application. The information is used only for statistical analysis and to promote equitable recruitment practices. While you are able to choose not to disclose answers to any of the monitoring questions, all candidates are encouraged to answer honestly with the assurance that their disclosure will not be released at any time, even if you are interviewed, sent a conditional offer or appointed.

How do I get a new password?
If you have lost or forgotten your password, simply click ‘Forgotten Password’ on the login page. An email will be sent to the account you registered with containing instructions for getting a new password.

I can’t access my account
If for any reason you can’t access your account, first ensure you are registered. You will have received a confirmation email when you registered. If you have forgotten your password, click ‘Forgotten Password’ and follow the instructions. If you cannot access the email account you registered with, please contact the ESC Service Desk on the contact details here.
